CARDIORESPITORY TRAINING

Cardiorespiratory Training: Exercise that involves and places a stress on the cardiorespiratory system which consists of the Lungs, Heart, Blood vessels, and Blood.

Although many clients realize the overall benefits of cardiorespiratory exercise, the primary manner in which it is used is a workout, to reduce body fat. It is generally assumed that body fat reduction can only result from extended periods of time on a piece of cardio equipment (or in an aerobics class). There is still a popular trend of thinking that suggests there is a magical “fat burning” zone for exercise. However, body fat reduction can only take place when there is more energy (calories) being burned than consumed.

When the goal is body fat reduction, the key is to focus on burning calories, not burning fat. The body is designed to expend as little energy as possible. This can be avoided by maximizing the caloric expenditure of a training session. When this type of training is performed the body will continue to burn more calories after exercise than before exercise was initiated.

At EHW we subscribe to stage training to ensure continual adaptation, our cardiorespiratory programs are designed to progress in an organized fashion to minimize the risk of overtraining and injury. Stage training is a three- stage programming system that uses different heart rate training zones. The zones were adapted to maximize cardiorespiratory training benefits.
